Boyes Turner champions neurodiversity in the workplace with British Dyslexia Association Awards – Reading Today Online

A READING-based solicitors firm was one of the backers of a national award scheme celebrating people with dyslexia.

Boyes Turner sponsored the Outstanding Individual Achievement Award in the 2023 British Dyslexia Association Awards – the first time it had done so.

The awards showcase the dedication and commitment by individuals, education settings, communities, and organisations to break through barriers and enable everyone with dyslexia to be acknowledged and accepted.

The winner was Pat Payne, from the Yorkshire Rose Dyslexia Association. She was recognised for her commitment to dyslexia by leading a Local Dyslexia Association for over 30 years.

In this time, Pat has trained teachers, parents, and local authorities, ensuring children have access to workshops, campaigning for change, providing advice, running a helpline as well as many successful awareness events.

Barry Stanton, Partner at Boyes Turner’s Employment and Immigration Team, and a trustee for the British Dyslexia Association, said: “Bringing more awareness around dyslexia ultimately helps build more inclusive workplaces and communities.

“Experiencing first-hand the challenges and difficulties faced by those who are dyslexic within my own family inspired me to become a Trustee.

“At Boyes Turner, we see so many benefits to fostering a more neurodivergent workforce, including increased creativity, different approaches to problem-solving, and real diversity in thinking -which all help achieve great outcomes.

“It’s why supporting these Awards was very important to the firm.”
