Brave youngsters hailed as Northern Children of Courage Award winners announced

The prestigious Northern Children of Courage Awards took place last month at the Hilton Hotel in Gateshead, with 275 people attending the event, which recognises the achievements of young people in the region.

Now in its fourth year, the event is held in aid of the St James’s Place Charitable Foundation, building on the success of other events that have taken place in Yorkshire and the Midlands.

The awards are divided into two different age groups, 0-12 and 13-17 years, with six different categories. Nominations come from a range of charities which work with children and young people in the North East.

On behalf of the Foundation, Mark Beverley, the awards host and SJP charitable foundation representative, has spoken about the success of the awards in being able to recognise these young people’s achievements.

“Once again, the Children of Courage Awards has been able to shine a light on some of the incredible young people in our communities and their inspirational acts of bravery, kindness and charity. It really is a privilege to host this event and be able to recognise the achievements of these brilliant young people.”
