Club Captain’s Day a huge success at Enmore Park Golf Club

The weather was kind apart from a shower in the afternoon and with the course in great condition some good golf was played.

The captain’s putter was won by Suzanne Boydell scoring a fantastic 48 points which was just amazing and well deserved.

Colin Scobie was the winner in division one of the Men’s Competition with 44 points, Toby Hallett with 43 won the second division while Michael Organ took the honours in division three with 44.

In the Ladies Competition the top division was won by Julie Blumgart with 43 points and division two by Heather Saxton with 39.

The 9 hole team competition was won by Jacky Bull, Susan Hockley, Janet Lambert and Carolyn Blackwood with 49 points.

The best junior was Isla Catto with 39 points. 

The best front nine was scoed by Paul Nicholson with 24 points while the best on the back nine was David Baverstock with 23.

The day concluded with a great social occasion with the tribute band Old Dogz New Trix providing excellent entertainment which everyone enjoyed.

Afterwards Gwen Cavill the Club Captain said: “I would like to thank everyone who came along and supported the day, which I thoroughly enjoyed.

“I’d especially like to thank the volunteers who oversaw the welcome desk and the starters on the first tee. Steve Darch and the bar and catering team did a fantastic job and The Pro Shop team who as always supported the day magnificently.”

The Captain’s Day raffle for club charities Promiseworks and Trussell Trust (Bridgwater and Taunton Food Banks) raised £500.

The second week of the Tuesday Summer League 9 Hole competition attracted 77 entries and was won by Curtis Ricketts with 22 points, Tom Chedzoy was second on count back ahead of Dylan Nyce after both scored 21. One of the highlights was the hole on one Paraic Dwyer scored on the Par 3 second.

On Wednesday the Ladies Who Brunch (Dawn Patrollers) played a 9 Hole Team Bowmaker with a shotgun start that was followed by a delicious breakfast.

The winners were Hazel Percy, Eileen Chave, Carolyn Blackwood and Heather Neale with 42 points, four ahead of Betty Edney, Heather Saxton, Alison Greenslade and Emma Sanders who were second.

Third on count back were Chris Lewis, Jenny Hawkins, Hilary Cockcroft and Karen Dicks, while Kay Taylor, Sally Dymock, Lorraine Taylor and Suzanne Bromme came fourth after both returned with 37 points.

Thursday’s Club Stableford including the Seniors Hancock Tankard – 92 players take to the course at the end of which it was Dan Foy who was the winner on count back from Lee Graham after both scored 40 points, while Nick Johnson was third on 39.
