Colchester United will clock up more miles in League Two

Colchester United will clock up more miles in League Two

Ben Garner’s side are set to clock up 8,838.2 miles in total, in the forthcoming 2023-24 campaign.

That is a difference of 573 extra miles, compared to the total of 8,265.2 miles they covered, in the 2022-23 season.

With the make up of the fourth tier for the new season confirmed following Carlisle United’s penalty shoot-out win over Stockport County in the League Two play-off final at Wembley Stadium yesterday, the U’s now know exactly who they will be playing – and where they will be travelling to.

Leyton Orient, Stevenage and Northampton Town’s promotion to League One – coupled with the relegation of Morecambe, Accrington Stanley and Forest Green Rovers and Wrexham’s promotion from the National League, means Colchester will be travelling longer distances.

Gazette:

Colchester have four round trips of 500 miles or more and 11 of 400 miles or more, next season.

The U’s longest away journey is once again to Barrow, where they will need to travel nearly 650 miles in total.

Their shortest trip will be when the U’s head over the QEII Bridge to play Gillingham, a round trip of 142 miles.

That is followed by trips to AFC Wimbledon (150), Sutton United (177) and Crawley Town (183).

The fixture list for the 2022-23 League Two season will be released on Thursday, June 22, ahead of the big kick-off, on August 5.

Here is a list of all the trips Colchester will make in League Two next season, with the longest first (distances shown as one-way journeys):
