The day offered a wide range of games – Plinko, ball toss, giant Checkers – and a scavenger hunt. The bubble station was a huge it with kids – and some parents.
Kids clambered over an array of fire and rescue equipment pulled onto the parking lot of the fire station – the 1929 antique Chevy fire truck was popular, and guests toured the station.

A hungry crowd enjoyed a free barbecue, cooked and served by Rotarians including Dave Bertrand.

“We went went through 230 pounds of potatoes, which is at least 700 fries. We lost count of the hot dogs we served, as we kept going back to the store to buy more, but it was at least 600 (people),” Bertrand said in a May 15 email, estimating the crowd size that joyed the unseasonably warm weather.

For the Rotary Club of Southampton, celebrating its 85th anniversary with a free day of family fun was a way to give back to a generous community, according to Rotarian Sylvia Sheard.

“We want to thank this wonderful community that has supported Rotary over the years,” Sheard said as she welcomed the large crowd to Jubilee Park.
