Connecticut girls lacrosse top performances, conference tournaments

Allie Bradley, Newtown: Bradley won nine draw controls and led the defense in the Nighthawks’ 12-7 win over New Fairfield for the SWC championship on Wednesday. She also had five draw controls in a 17-5 win over Pomperaug-Southbury in the semis.

Audrey Bronson, Cheshire: The Rams’ senior goalie collected 10 saves in back-to-back games, helping Cheshire defeat Amity-Woodbridge 13-6 in the SCC semifinals, and Guilford 14-7 in the league final.

Dani Bruno, East Lyme: The senior had seven goals and three assists in the Vikings’ 17-3 victory over Bacon Academy-Colchester in the ECC semifinals on Tuesday, and added four goals in a 16-5 win over Stonington in the title game.

Laura Day, Old Saybrook: The sophomore led the attack with five goals and two assists as the Rams won their second straight Shoreline Conference championship 14-9 over North Branford on Thursday.

Ashley D’Elia, Watertown: D’Elia, a senior, was named the MVP of the WCLC championship game as Watertown defeated St. Paul-Bristol 17-6 on Tuesday.

Gabby Delsanto, Canton: The senior had seven points with three goals and four assists in a 9-6 victory over Ellington, as Canton won its sixth consecutive NCCC championship.

Nicole DePodesta, Southington: The senior netted four goals to help lead Southington to a 14-12 win over Simsbury in the CCC North final on Thursday.

Gigi Franco, East Lyme: Franco, a senior goalie, earned ECC tournament Most Outstanding Player honors after making 12 saves in the Vikings’ 16-5 victory over Stonington for the championship on Thursday.

Summer Harrell, Newtown: The junior was named the MVP of the SWC tournament after collecting three goals and one assist in a 12-7 win over New Fairfield in the conference final. She also had seven goals and one assist in a 17-5 semifinal win over Pomperaug.

Ava Harris, Cheshire: The senior collected five goals to help lead the Rams past Amity 13-6 in the SCC semifinals on Monday.

Kelly Holmes, Darien: Holmes netted three goals and had one assist in the Blue Wave’s 11-7 victory over New Canaan in the FCIAC final. It was Darien’s 19th conference crown.

Chloe Humphrey, Darien: The Blue Wave senior was named MVP of the FCIAC tournament after scoring six goals in an 11-7 win over New Canaan in the championship game. She also collected five goals in a 16-2 win over Greenwich in the semifinals.

Emma Logel, Stonington: Logel, a sophomore, led the Bears with five goals in a 15-8 win over Waterford in the ECC semifinals on Tuesday.

Alexa Manfredonia, Newtown: The Vikings’ junior goalie had a combined 15 saves in the SWC semifinals and final, including eight in a 12-7 win over New Fairfield in the conference title game.

Ava Matikowski, Cheshire: The senior earned Most Outstanding Player honors after collecting four goals and three assists in Cheshire’s 14-7 win over Guilford in the SCC championship game on Wednesday. It was the Rams’ first league title since 2014. Matikowski also had a hat trick and one assist in a 13-6 win over Amity in the semis.

Morgan Morus, New Fairfield: The Rebels’ sophomore goalie racked up 16 saves to help lead sixth-seeded New Fairfield to an 8-7 victory over No. 2 Weston in the SWC semifinals on Monday.

Julia Nitti, New Fairfield: The sophomore had a hat trick to lead the sixth-seeded Rebels’ scoring in an 8-7 win over No. 2 Weston in the SWC semis on Monday.

Izzy Pazzaglia, East Lyme: The senior midfielder had a game-high five goals with two assists in a 16-5 win over Stonington in the ECC final.

Molly Reed, New Canaan: Reed, a senior, scored at the buzzer to give the Rams a dramatic 10-9 victory over Wilton in the FCIAC semifinals on Monday.

Payton Root, Guilford: The junior had hat tricks in the SCC semifinals and final, as Guiford finished as the tournament runner-up. The Grizzlies defeated Daniel Hand-Madison 15-4 and fell to Cheshire 14-7.

MJ Santa Barbara, Guilford: The senior had nine points on seven goals and two assists to lead the Grizzlies to a 15-4 victory over Hand in the SCC semifinals on Monday.

Lexie Tully, New Canaan: The junior scored five goals as New Canaan overcame Wilton 10-9 in the FCIAC semifinals on Monday.

Makayla Winegar, Southington: The senior had six points with two goals and four assists to help lead Southington to a 14-12 win over Simsbury in the CCC North final on Thursday. She also had a goal and two assists against Conard-West Hartford in the semis.
