Digital bank to create 150 jobs in Liverpool

Leading digital SME bank, Cashplus, is to create 150 jobs at its Liverpool base over the next five years.

Based at The Spine in Paddington Village, which sits within the Knowledge Quarter Liverpool Innovation District, the expansion of the Liverpool office is part of the company’s strategy to boost its UK-based customer support.

Colin Webb, operations director, Cashplus Bank, said: “The business case for expanding our second headquarters in Liverpool, and doubling down on our commitment to the Northwest, was straightforward and easy.

“This is a dynamic city and one of the UK’s biggest financial centres with a wide community of financial services and technology experts, not to mention an excellent future talent pool with two leading universities.

“Over the next few years, we hope to further continue to grow our presence in Liverpool, bringing jobs and opportunities to the area.”

Cashplus Bank serves a range of businesses and consumers, with a focus on supporting the UK’s small businesses and giving them the same level of access to banking services as their bigger competitors.

The creation of 150 new jobs will see a number of new roles in departments including commercial and technology.

As part of the expansion, Cashplus staff will continue to be provided with free travel passes to use on the Paddington Shuttle service, providing employees with direct connectivity from nearby car parks and train stations to The Spine.

Cashplus moved into The Spine, which is pursuing a Platinum WELL Standard Accreditation, in September last year after taking space within the Sciontec AI space, operated by Sciontec Developments.

Sciontec is the spin out development company of KQ Liverpool and is jointly owned by Bruntwood SciTech, Liverpool John Moores University, the University of Liverpool and Liverpool City Council.

It owns and operates the successful Liverpool Science Park, the Sciontec AI serviced space offices in The Spine and is developing HEMISPHERE, Liverpool’s first operational net zero carbon new build at Paddington Village, due to open in 2025.
