It’s been a bitter-sweet season for Draper who has shown on court what he’s capable of but at the same time has suffered injuries and those fitness concerns have kept him away from tennis.

The good part of that story came in Adelaide where Draper made the semifinal and followed that up with a fourth round appearance at the Indian Wells Open. He was then forced to retire from that match in Indian Wells against Carlos Alcaraz because of an abdominal strain.

The Brit returned at the Monte-Carlo Masters where he made the second round with a resounding win over the favourite Sebastian Baez but then fell to Hubert Hurkacz. Not long after that, the injury came back knocking on his doors and he was forced to miss the Madrid and Rome Masters as a result.

Draper now returns to tennis and there’s no doubting he will have a few question-marks in own mind about his fitness.

And that’s where his opponent might be able to take some advantage.

Muller Hoping for a Marrakesh Encore

Muller had shot to fame earlier this year by making the quarterfinal of the Doha Open while starting out as a qualifier but he went two steps further in the Marrakesh Open.

A clay-court specialist, Muller surprised Richard Gasquet and Lorenzo Musetti on his way to the final where Roberto Carballes Baena finally ended his fairy tale.

Unfortunately for Muller, he has not been at his best since then. He’s featured in four tournaments since the including a couple of Challenger competitions and won just two main draw matches.

His latest win came at the Rome Masters where he had to come through the qualifiers before defeating Kyle Edmund with a lot of ease in the first round. Cameron Norrie made short work of Muller in round two to end his run.

Muller will now face his third successive British opponent and one against whom he starts a 6/5 underdog.
