Wisbech Town and March Town make new signings ahead of pre-season fixtures

Wisbech Town and March Town have both made some big additions as their pre-season preparations step up a notch.

This morning, the Fenmen confirmed the return of defender and midfielder Aaron Hart – who has previously made more than 100 appearances for the club.

He will join back up with Leon Mettam’s side after a year away, with the ex-Peterborough United youth player recently playing with Spalding United.

Aaron Hart has returned to Wisbech Town

Player-coach Danny Brooks said: “Aaron is a great addition that will bring quality and experience to the squad.

“We tried to sign him when he left Spalding last season, so we’re delighted he’s decided to come back and start enjoying his football again.”

Sisa Tuntulawana will also be playing at Fountain Fresh Park once again this season.

He impressed for large spells last year, but was recalled by parent club Grantham Town after scoring five in 21 games for Wisbech.

Boss Mettam said: “After a hugely successful loan stint last season, it felt right that we signed him permanently.

“So I’m really happy that he’s agreed to sign. All the attributes to be a top player and it’s a great coup for Wisbech Town.”

Wisbech have also confirmed that striker Rob Conyard will be staying on for the 2023/24 campaign.

Mettam said: “I’m really pleased that Rob wants to continue with us next season – he came in halfway through the season and fitted in well, scoring goals.

“I feel he will benefit hugely from a full pre-season, which will be his first in three years.”

And with young defender Archie Wallace also opting to stay, Mettam added: “Archie is a young centre half that came on leaps and bounds throughout the season.

“So I’m delighted he’s decided to stay as he will only continue to improve with age and the amount of games he plays.”

Meanwhile, March have confirmed that goalkeeper Jonah Gill has returned to the club ahead of their new campaign.

This follows the departure of Charlie Congreve a few weeks ago, with Ashley Taylor looking to add strength in depth as his side aim to improve on their impressive return to the United Counties League Premier Division South.

The Hares are set to kick off their pre-season fixtures with a trip to Thetford Town tomorrow (Thursday), before they travel to Skegness Town a week on Saturday.

Wisbech do not get under way themselves until July 1, when they will host Heacham in their first friendly of the summer.
