Plans are put forward to revamp High Wycombe’s town centre

Items on the agenda will focus on numerous potential improvements for the town which include painting a mural on the Paul’s Row underpass, reviewing the ongoing parking problems in the centre of the town, expanding the high street along with ideas to repurpose the now surplus House of Frasier building.

In total, there will be 10 topics of discussion, with one of the being to tackle anti-social behaviour.

In the official four-page document which is available for public access, the meeting will outline the negative actions of those within the area, and how this can be reduced.

Buckinghamshire Council said: “Antisocial behaviour continues to be raised at the High Wycombe Regeneration Board and centres around car parks, begging, shoplifting and aggressive behaviour towards staff.

“The Council are working with partners including Business Improvement District (HWBIDCo), Thames Valley Police and other agencies to address issues.

“This partnership approach has proved effective in addressing issues in the town centre for example addressing anti-social behaviour in car parks and the parklets in Frogmoor have now been moved with one being refurbished and installed in the Eden Centre, with the other planned for the University campus.”

Other subjects include potentially having a new infrastructure connecting Priory Avenue and Frogmoor, improving the Guildhall, and whilst transforming White Hart Street into a place for ‘dwell time’.

On trying to improve Wycombe’s parking problems, the council said: “The Regeneration Team are working collaboratively with the Town Centre Parking Review project team, to understand the opportunities to improve the Town Centre environment for all users.

“This project is looking at potential pedestrianisation, traffic enforcement measures etc. A separate update paper will be bought to this Committee.”

  3. Transforming White Hart Street. If approved, construction could begin this autumn
  4. The Curve and what their aspirations are 
  5. A new walkway linking Priory Avenue and Frogmoor due to the Chilterns Shopping Centre
  6. What Bucks New University have planned in terms of future development
  7. Future High Streets
  8. Improving the underpass between the university and Paul’s Row
  9. Tackling ant-social behaviour
  10. Reviewing the town parking situation
