Family pay tribute to Kieran Ingram, from Cliffe, a year since he died in a motorbike crash in Shorne

The family of a “fun loving lad” who was killed in a motorbike crash have paid tribute to him a year on.

Kieran Ingram had a “lust for life” and was always looking for his next adventure before his sudden death, his mum Charlotte Ingram said.

The Cliffe man died at the scene in Park Pale, Shorne, close to the M2, between Strood and Gravesend, on June 8, 2022.

Speaking to KentOnline, his mum said: “Kieran was a very popular, fun loving lad, who would do anything for his family and friends.

“Always looking for fun, Kieran loved music festivals, football, and more recently carp fishing. He was a life long Chelsea fan and would go and watch them with his dad Jonathan.

“Always looking for the next adventure he definitely had a lust for life.

“The past year has been extremely hard for us as a family and his friends, who have been a great support.

“Kieran has left such a huge hole and his death has affected many in the village.”

An inquest held last year found the 22-year-old, of New Road, Cliffe, died as a result of a road traffic collision.

He is thought to have hit a bump in the road before coming off his friend’s motorbike – which the court later heard was stolen from Sidcup.

Coroner Alan Blunsdon heard was told Kieran was behaving normally, wearing a helmet, and not doing any stunts, when driving along the road.

PC Simon Masterman, a police forensic accident investigator, said he found evidence of two places where the kerb had been clipped.

It appeared the bike had fallen over on the second occasion and both rider and vehicle had slid along the grass verge before bouncing back into the road.

Kieran’s friend estimated he was doing about 50mph – with the legal road limit being 60mph – in which case he had just over one second to stabilise the bike after the first collision with the roadside before hitting it again.

Following the accident, floral tributes and a Chelsea shrine were left at the scene.

“Our hearts are broken, fly high sweetheart”, read one. While another said: “Too soon, too young sweetheart.”

The family has already raised more than £6,000 for the Kent, Surrey and Sussex air ambulance service but wanted to continue their efforts and hold a charity event in his memory.

Along with Kieran’s friends, they will be hosting a football fun day on Saturday, June 17, from 12pm.

It will include a 12 team football tournament with other activities, including a raffle, auction, and a music event in The Village Club Cliffe, in Church Street.

The money raised will be split between the air ambulance service and construction industry charity Lighthouse Club.
