Former England and Wrexham star Andy Morrell has backed Ryan Reynolds’ side to back-to back-promotions. As stated by the Leader, the ex-forward has full faith in his former side. “I think Wrexham are strong. They are in a stronger position than what Stockport were in the summer.”

“They will certainly add to the squad because they can do that with the finances they have got.” Morrell says Phil Parkinson has a “good group” while using Stockport as an example and praising the empathic run of the Hatters. He said Hartlepool may have slipped down in the league, but believes the Red Dragons are “geared up ready to go again.”

Morrell insists that the increased number of automatic promotion spots in League Two, compared to just one in the National League, enhances Wrexham’s prospects to march onto glory. He continued, “Wrexham have got every chance of really pushing and making the play-offs at least next season.”

While talking about their chances he also talked about a 3-1 home win against Boreham Wood. The ex-Red’s striker was happy to see the patient fans finally see the club over the line. “They have taken thousands all over the country on long trips and they have backed their team and really got them through some hard times,” he added. It seems Morrell is quite confident about his former side and believes they can easily repeat another feat.

While faith and support may give Phil Parkinson’s side a huge boost, it still poses questions about their “multiple promotion” dream. However, the math definitely suggests that they have a good chance to go for back-to-back success. League Two offers three automatic promotion spots, while the remaining promotion spot is determined through playoffs.

Teams ranked fourth to seventh compete for it. Hence, Wrexham will need to secure a position within the top seven in order to contend for promotion. Achieving another promotion will be a challenging endeavor for Ryan Reynolds’ club, and they will prioritize strengthening their squad for the upcoming season to increase their chances of finishing in the top seven.
