Horse Racing Tips: Nap of the Day

Horse Racing Tips: Nap of the Day

Ben Linfoot had a 12/1 winner on Wednesday and he has the Thursday best bets from around the tracks.

Infinite Cosmos declared a NR this morning

LIBERTUS – 2.05 Chelmsford

James Fanshawe can strike in the Karen Millen Handicap at Chelmsford with LIBERTUS.

The Equiano gelding has shown pace on the all-weather including when winning at Southwell and he put in a career-best in second at Lingfield last time when dropped to five furlongs for the first time in his career.

The change of gear he showed from over a furlong out suggests he’s got plenty more to offer at the minimum trip and he can show it here under 7lb claimer Tommie Jakes.

FLAME SPIRIT – 4.45 Ripon

FLAME SPIRIT looks a likely type stepping up in trip to 10 furlongs for the first time in the Kirby Thomas Final Furlong Handicap at Ripon.

The three-year-old is out of a 10-furlong winner and is a half-sister to Spirit Of Angel who won over 10 and 12 furlongs, so improvement is expected now he tackles the trip.

Trainer James Tate has a superb record at Ripon, winning 13 from 44 at 30% with his representatives at the track, and he’s found a nice opportunity here with his horse getting 12lb on the weight-for-age scale.

TIP TOP TONTO – 5.25 Uttoxeter

Dr Richard Newland looks to have found a winning opportunity for TIP TOP TONTO in the opening maiden hurdle on Uttoxeter’s evening card.

The seven-year-old was unlucky not to open his account over hurdles last year, especially when he tipped up two out when going best at Newton Abbot when last seen last July.

That must’ve taken him time to get over but he’s back here in a winnable race at a track where his trainer excels in the summer months (Newland is 36/106 at 34% in June and July).

ROYAL ATHENA – 8.30 Lingfield

ROYAL ATHENA can back up her win here from 10 days ago in the Sky Sports Racing HD Virgin 519 Handicap at Lingfield.

Tom Ward’s Golden Horn filly is 3lb well-in for this assignment under a 6lb penalty following an impressive success over Blindedbythelights on her first go at 1m4f.

The runner-up has since gone in at Newbury and Royal Athena looks ahead of her mark at this distance, so she has a standout chance in this field.

JABAARA – 2.30 Royal Ascot (NAP)

JABAARA can land the opening Albany Stakes at Royal Ascot on Friday for Roger Varian and David Egan.

The daughter of Exceed And Excel showed an electric turn of foot on debut to defy trouble in the run at Newmarket in a race Varian used as a launchpad for Daahyeh’s Albany success four years ago. The last two 1000 Guineas winners, Cachet and Mawj, also won the same Newmarket maiden.

It looks really good form as the third, La Guarida, has won since from subsequent winner Indispensable at Goodwood, so with everything stacking up Jabaara looks to have a very solid chance.

TOPOFTHECOTSWOLDS – 3.55 Market Rasen

Nigel Twiston-Davies has a good record at Market Rasen in the summer months and he sends one runner, TOPOFTHECOTSWOLDS, up to the Lincolnshire track in the ABP ‘Summer Plate Trial’ Handicap Chase.

Back down to his last winning mark of 126, the nine-year-old looks handicapped to have a say and I like him dropping back to 2m5f given he’s been too keen when racing over further on his last few starts.

FLYING FRONTIER – 4.05 Redcar

FLYING FRONTIER has an obvious chance in the RacingTV.com/FreeTrial Novice Stakes at Redcar.

The son of Farhh has impressed in two starts so far, winning easily at Carlisle from Iron Lion who reopposes here. That horse looks his main rival again against a mixture of newcomers and more exposed horses and this looks a fine opportunity for the selection.

LA PULGA – 6.22 Goodwood

Charlie Johnston’s LA PULGA looks seriously on the upgrade and he can dominate from a prominent position in the Racing With Pride Handicap at Goodwood.

Whether he can lead with Star Caliber in the line-up is another matter, but either way making all or getting a nice tow into proceedings will be fine for this son of Kodiac who was a bit unlucky not to score off the same mark at Pontefract last time (2lb well-in here).

ASHMORE – 7.40 Newmarket

It could be worth chancing David Menuisier’s ASHMORE in the Winners Wear House Of Cavani Handicap over a mile at Newmarket’s July Course.

He has to prove himself on turf but he’s very lightly raced and if he can settle for Neil Callan like he did on the polytrack at Lingfield two starts ago, where he was a good neck second to Totnes, he’ll have every chance of coming home strongly in this average 0-75.

YELLOW BEAR – 9.00 Musselburgh

Dropping right back in trip to seven furlongs can help YELLOW BEAR land the Bet In-Running On racing BetVictor Handicap at Musselburgh.

The four-year-old has struggled over middle distances the last twice but he’s now 4lb lower than when running well over a mile at Wetherby in April and a repeat of that run could be good enough here.
