KOKOMO, Ind. – The Indiana University Kokomo women’s soccer team, led by third-year head coach Sohaila Akhavein and second-year assistant Kaleb Preston, are excited to welcome the program’s 2023 recruiting class to campus. This year’s class features four student-athletes, including two incoming freshmen and two transfers.

The Cougar women’s soccer team is coming off their best season in program history, as they finished the year with an overall record of 14-3-3 and a River States Conference record of 8-1-1. Despite finishing second in the RSC regular season standings, the Cougars would knock off Rio Grande in the RSC Championship to clinch the program’s first ever NAIA National Tournament appearance.

Head coach Sohaila Akhavein had this to say when asked about the program’s 2023 recruiting class; “We are excited to have this group of players join our program. Each one of them bring a different dynamic in skill and tactical knowledge to the game that is going to fit in well with the current team while continuing to elevate us.”

Incoming Freshmen:

Charity Lewis | Auburn, IN | Dekalb High School

Charity will make her way south to Kokomo to join the women’s soccer program on the pitch. She was a standout player in her time as a Baron, having earned KPC Media Group All-Area honors in her final three seasons as well as being named a Second Team All-Northeast 8 Conference selection.

Lewis plans to study Business Administration at IU Kokomo.

Elaina Page | Cicero, IN | Franklin College

Elaina is the first of two transfer athletes who are moving closer to home to continue their collegiate soccer career. Page, a Hamilton Heights High School alum, comes to the Cougars with a plethora of experience over her four-year career as a Grizzly. Page is coming off a 2022 season in which she was named Honorable Mention All-HCAC while starting all 16 games on the wing.

Monica Conwell | Kokomo, IN | Northwestern High School
