Little Bun Shop offering affordable lunch options big on taste opens in Cleethorpes
A Cleethorpes business owner has opened an affordable bun shop for people looking for a healthy, on-the-go lunch in the space next to her thriving fabrics firm.
Lisa Diable, 59, decided to open The Little Bun Shop to fill the empty area adjacent to family business L&C Fabrics, which is situated at the Barcroft Street junction of Grimsby Road.
Using only local produce and eco-friendly equipment – with as little plastic as possible – the store officially opened to the public on Tuesday (June 6).

Offering hot and cold buns made fresh to order, as well as wraps, paninis, jacket potatoes, salad pots and cakes, The Little Bun Shop prides itself on providing healthy, filling and reasonably-priced lunch options to local people and businesses.
Lisa told Grimsby Live: “I’ve run the fabric shop for over nine years and we moved in November from Manchester Street over to these premises and we had a little side room that we really didn’t know what to do with.
“So over Christmas we decided to open a bun shop. I have customers coming to the fabric shop from all over and they were asking me where they could eat, so I thought I’d use it as an opportunity.”
Lisa said an important focus of the business is to keep things local, from employing people living in the surrounding area to using only produce sourced from nearby.
“I just like being part of the community and employing local people. We use only local produce from local butchers and local wholesalers, so it’s keeping money in the area,” she said.
“So far, the local community have been really supportive and also businesses too, lots have been sending orders through.”
She said the car park at the front of the shop is ideal for customers who are in a hurry.
“The car park at the front really helps because people on the go or people with children can just pull up, run in and get their food ordered. Or people can ring up, pre-order and then call in for it. Having a car park is really helpful. It’s easier, rather than having to find a parking place on the nearby streets and then come in,” said Lisa.
Another primary focus of the business was to make the food options as affordable as possible amid the cost of living crisis.
“We wanted to make sure that we provided good quality, fresh food that’s affordable,” Lisa said.
“We don’t re-warm anything, we don’t use microwaves, and we make everything fresh. We’re trying to be a bit more modern in the way we’re cooking our food – we use air-fryers rather than griddle frying. It’s a bit healthier as well. All food is made in front of the customer.
“I’m trying to cut down on all plastics. Everything is biodegradable, even our carrier bags. I’ve purposely bought things like that because I want my grandchildren to grow up in a better environment. We do have plastic bottles, but I hope our customers would recycle them. You can’t do it all, but I do try.”
The Little Bun Shop is open from Monday to Saturday, 7.30am to 2pm. You can find The Little Bun Shop on Facebook here.
