Live updates as teenage girl’s body found in Carr Mill Dam
The body of a teenage girl has been found following a huge emergency search at Carr Mill Dam.
A large police presence was been reported at Carr Mill Dam in St Helens, from around 1pm, today on Thursday, June 1.
Witnesses in the area claimed to have seen a police or ambulance helicopter also hovering above the water.
Merseyside Police Chief Inspector for St Helens Paul Holden confirmed the body of a teenage girl has now been found.

Police confirm the body of a teenage girl has been found
Police have confirmed the body of a teenage girl has been found following a huge emergency search at Carr Mill Dam earlier today.
Merseyside Police, paramedics and the fire service were called to the scene at Carr Mill Dam on Garswood Old Road, St Helens at around 12.30pm today (June 1) after receiving a report of a concern for the safety of a teenage girl.
Merseyside Police Chief Inspector for St Helens Paul Holden confirmed that the body of a teenage girl has now been found.

A family who live near Carr Mill Dam told our reporter Charlotte that there is always people swimming there in warm weather.
They added they were shocked to hear the news of the search this afternoon and headed straight over to the dam fearing it could be someone they know.

Access to dam completely blocked

Search and rescue crews are currently working in the water at Carr Mill Dam.
Images from the scene shows activity also taking place near to the water’s edge.
A cordon has been placed around the area and police are currently restricting access to the dam.

It is unclear at this moment if it is a police helictoper or an air ambulance.

Officers told staff at Toby Carvery, which backs onto the Carr Mill Dam, not to allow people into the back near to the water.
