Liverpool’s Ibrahima Konate branded ‘savage’ for stopping young boy from scoring goal

Liverpool’s Ibrahima Konate savagely stopped a young boy from scoring in front of Kylian Mbappe.

Konate, 24, is away on international duty with France as they prepare to host Greece in a Euro qualifier after beating Gibraltar 3-0 last Friday to remain top of their group.

The Reds centre-back has proven to be a hit in Jurgen Klopp’s backline despite an injury-hit 2022/23 season, but his form whilst in the side saw him selected in Didier Deschamps’ Qatar World Cup squad.

Konate’s performances during the winter have seen Deschamps keep faith with the former RB Leipzig defender, but a recent video shows he may not have an off button when it comes to last-ditch defending.

Ahead of their game against Greece, the France squad took time out to help coach young children. A clip posted to Instagram by France’s official national team page showed Mbappe helping a child through a dribbling and shooting drill.

But to the amazement of Mbappe, Konate steamed in from out-of-shot to slide across the small goal and clear the child’s shot away – leaving his teammates in stitches whilst the PSG superstar threw his arms up in frustration.
