Man Stole 5-Ton Military Truck After Release From Harford Jail: Police
A man stole a 5-ton military truck after he left the Harford County Detention Center and led police on a chase along I95, the sheriff said.

HARFORD COUNTY, MD — A 38-year-old Abingdon man stole a military vehicle from a home in Bel Air Friday shortly after 6:30 p.m. then led officers on a chase, according to Harford County authorities.
The privately owned 1986 923-A 5-ton military vehicle was reported missing by its owner from the 900 block of Rock Spring Road. Shortly after, the vehicle was spied rumbling through Bel Air, then down Route 24 and onto I95.
Harford County sheriff’s deputies and allied law enforcement agencies pursued the 5-ton truck down the interstate. Officers used stop sticks but those didn’t work.

The military vehicle continued into Baltimore City before stopping on Conkling Street, where the driver hopped out and tried to run.
Deputies apprehended Michael D. Stevens II, who had just been released from the Harford County Detention Center before police said he stole the vehicle. Stevens was returned to the detention center at 9:20 p.m., where he faces charges of motor vehicle theft and two counts of first-degree assault, two counts of second-degree assault and failing to obey a lawful order.
During the pursuit, Stevens crashed into multiple vehicles, authorities said. Anyone who owns one of those vehicles is asked to call the Southern Precinct at 410-612-1717 to make a report.
