Man who ‘plagued’ Liverpool banned from Aldi and Home Bargains

A man who “plagued” the city has been banned from entering two Liverpool districts.

Sean Daly, 56, of Onslow Road, Kensington would steal alcohol from a number of shops over an “extensive period of time” and was seen drinking in a public place. Appearing before Sefton Magistrates Court on Thursday, May 18, he was slapped with a Criminal Behaviour Order.

After pleading guilty to theft from a shop, he was issued with the five-year Criminal Behaviour Order (CBO) at the court where it was heard he would often drink the stolen alcohol, usually wine or spirits, on the retail premises.

Supermarkets he targeted included The Range on Edge Lane, Aldi store in St John’s Precinct, Marks and Spencer on Church Street, and Home Bargains on Audley Street. The CBO prohibits him from entering two areas, Liverpool city centre and Edge Lane Retail Park.

In April he also received a 12-week jail sentence for the theft offences. Community Policing Constable Dylan Steel said: “This order is great news to the local community and businesses that Daly targeted with his behaviour.

“He has plagued the area of Old Swan and beyond with his prolific offending, so this is extremely positive news that the order is in place until May 2028. Criminal Behaviour Orders continue to be an extremely effective tool and our successful application to amend in this case shows our commitment to dealing robustly with repeat offenders who have a negative impact on the communities we serve.
