Manchester United transfer news LIVE Anthony Martial out of FA Cup final as Sabitzer ‘ transfer decision made’

Manchester United transfer news LIVE Anthony Martial out of FA Cup final as Sabitzer ‘ transfer decision made’

Manchester United striker Anthony Martial is out of Saturday’s FA Cup final with Manchester City through injury.

The attacker picked up a hamstring strain in the late stages of Sunday’s 2-1 win day win over Fulham with assessments revealing a muscle tear. Martial has already missed 32 games this season through various setbacks.

The Reds are also said to have made a transfer decision on Bayern Munich loanee Marcel Sabitzer. The injured midfielder misses the trip to Wembley too with a knee injury and reports suggest he has played his final United match.

Elsewhere, manager Erik ten Hag addressed the future of Mason Greenwood for the first time since February in an interview published yesterday.

In a chat with The Times, Ten Hag insisted it was not down to him whether Greenwood returned to the club when admitting that United need a player who can ease the goal-scoring burden on Marcus Rashford.

In other news, United are considering whether to sell Fred to Fulham in the summer. The Brazilian midfielder was filmed chatting with Fulham boss Marco Silva outside Old Trafford after the Reds won 2-1 on Sunday. MEN Sport understands United are considering selling the 30-year-old as they aim to bring down the average age of their midfield.

Anthony Martial has been ruled out of the FA Cup final with a hamstring injury.

The Manchester United forward has missed 32 matches this season through a number of different setbacks.

His latest muscle strain was picked up in United’s 2-1 final day win over Fulham on Sunday.

Tottenham star makes transfer claim about Harry Kane

Emerson Royal says Tottenham teammate Harry Kane has indicated whether he wants to stay at the club or not.

The striker netted 30 goals in the Premier League this season but faces the prospect of no European football next term after Spurs finished 8th.

Kane is United’s top target with Erik ten Hag keen to bring in a marquee centre-forward.

Injury latest ahead of FA Cup final

Speaking at the weekend, Erik ten Hag said he was expecting Lisandro Martinez back at Carrington this week to continue his rehabilitation. He outlined his hopes for the defender to be back in time for the start of pre-season.

Martinez’s metatarsal injury picked up against Sevilla last month ruled him out for the rest of his debut campaign. The 25-year-old was seen walking around the Old Trafford pitch to clap the fans during the lap of honour after the win over Fulham on Sunday.

United ‘will not sign Sabitzer permanently’

United have apparently decided not to sign Marcel Sabitzer on a permanent basis upon the end of his loan spell.

The Bayern Munich midfielder joined in January to cover to Christian Eriksen, who had suffered a serious ankle injury.

He has played 18 games for United, scoring three times, but missed this weekend’s FA Cup final through a knee injury.

And now, the Daily Mail say Erik ten Hag has opted against handing Sabitzer a permanent deal with focus needed on more stronger options.

Spurs star makes Kane transfer claim

Tottenham defender Emerson Royal believes Harry Kane wishes to stay at the London club beyond the summer, despite heavy interest from Manchester United.

Kane, who has 12 months left on his current deal, faces the prospect of no European football next season after Tottenham’s eighth-place Premier League finish.

However, teammate Royal believes the 29-year-old still wants to remain at Spurs despite the club having no manager in situ.

Here is what he has had to say.

Ander Herrera on if he expects David de Gea to stay at United

I think [so]. I didn’t ask him if he’s going to sign a new contract, but I guess he’s going to do it.

He cannot finish his time at Manchester United, even more so when he’s at a good age for a goalkeeper, when he has given the team victories in some moments of this season.

So I have a lot of confidence in David. I speak with him almost every week, every month, and he’s not worried. He has so much confidence in himself and he’s going – I hope he’s going – to sign a new contract.

Mount’s message as transfer speculation grows

England international Mason Mount has sent a passionate message to Chelsea supporters as speculation over his future continues to grow.

Mount, 24, only has 13 months left to run on his contract at Stamford Bridge, while he’s been mooted as a possible target for Erik ten Hag when the market opens. Manchester United will continue their rebuild this summer and Ten Hag wants to make at least two major signings with Harry Kane still top of his shopping list.

However, the United manager also has his sights set on a dynamic midfielder. Mount fits the bill in that regard and he could be poised for a new challenge himself.

Mount has featured just once for Chelsea since February in the Premier League and former interim manager Frank Lampard has suggested he could move on.

The midfielder has had his say on the recently concluded campaign here.

Ferdinand sings Fernandes’ praises

I think he has been tremendous. Some criticism has been aimed at him for his body language and whatnot over the course of this season especially, but he has responded and I think he cares.

He does care, sometimes it’s just about showing it in the right way. He absolutely cares about being a top footballer and wants to be successful at Man United.

He understands the history and expectations there and from the day he walked into the football club he has been the guy that the club has had to look to in all of the moments when they have needed something because he has been a tremendous addition to this football club in terms of goals, chances created, assists. It’s only Kevin De Bruyne who is near him this season in terms of chance creation; he’s created 119 chances.

Rice on West Ham future amid United links

Declan Rice admitted he is ‘not really focused’ on whether the upcoming Europa Conference League final could be his last game for West Ham.

Speculation surrounds the future of the 24-year-old midfielder, who is the Hammers’ captain. His deal at the London Stadium expires in the summer of 2024 and, though West Ham hold an option to extend it by a further 12 months, it is highly expected this season will be Rice’s last at his boyhood club.

United and Arsenal have been reported as potential destinations for Rice if he does indeed depart David Moyes’ side this summer.

He was asked about his future ahead of next week’s final versus Fiorentina and this is what he had to say.

To VAR or not to VAR?

VAR certainly divides opinion, but it is here and now a reality of Premier League football.

Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City stormed to their third consecutive Premier League title under the Catalan. As for Manchester United, Erik ten Hag brought Champions League football back to Old Trafford in his first season – with United finishing third after Sunday’s win over Fulham.

Arsenal and Newcastle United also booked their places in the top four, with Liverpool and Brighton earning Europa League spots and Aston Villa securing a seventh-placed finish that takes them into the Conference League. Leicester City, Leeds United and Southampton all went down to the Championship, with the Foxes and Leeds relegated on the final day as Everton survived.

But how would the table have looked without the decisions which were impacted by the use of VAR?

Fernandes transfer message to Ramos

Bruno Fernandes is confident that Benfica striker Goncalo Ramos has the necessary qualities to adapt to life in the Premier League and play for Manchester United.

Ramos burst onto the scene in extraordinary fashion at last year’s World Cup in Qatar, scoring a hat-trick in Portugal’s 6-1 round-of-16 win over Switzerland.

His heroics against the Swiss immediately alerted an array of big-name clubs to his qualities and his potential, including United. As reported by the Manchester Evening News back in December, boss Erik ten Hag is a fan of Ramos and believes he has all of the necessary ingredients to make a name for himself in England.

Fernandes has had his say on his international team-mate amid the potential of a move to Old Trafford.

Bargains United could grab from relegated sides this summer

Southampton, Leicester City and Leeds United are the three times to have been relegated this season and all have sellable assets.

The trio will be in the Championship next season and many players on the books of those sides will be seeking to stay in the Premier League if they can.

As is often the case, relegated sides sell some of their best stars to get the maximum money they can to compensate for the loss of Premier League money.

Here’s five stars from the three relegated top flight teams United could turn to.

OPINION: Why Ten Hag is ‘obsessed’ with signing Kane

“It’s absurd that a section of online United supporters actively turn their noses up at Harry Kane. He’s been the closest thing to a guarantee of goals in the Premier League since his emergence in 2014 and he’d immediately solve the biggest problem at Old Trafford. Erik ten Hag is aware his side has not scored enough goals and all too often this term opponents were not killed off in matches. United would almost certainly be preparing for the Europa League final if the world-class Kane had led the attack this season.”

Ferdinand names four players United can sell to raise funds

Former United defender Rio Ferdinand believes the Reds can offload four players this summer to raise up to £100million.

United, ideally, need to sell before they can buy this summer, such is the level of quality they want to add to the squad. They want to recruit a new striker and a midfielder at the very least.

OPINION: Ten Hag transfer dig highlights priceless United changes

“It is a fact that United spent more across a single summer window than they ever had before, but there was some mitigation to that given they had lost six senior players on free transfers at the end of last season, which significantly lowered their wage expenditure and freed up sizeable transfer funds. So, with regard to the January window, he does have a valid point. In an ideal world, United would have been able to address their squad issues with top targets rather than what was simply available at the time, and it is testament to Ten Hag’s management that he still managed to make it a success when his hands were tied. More important than the players he brought in has been the mentality, with United now together in spirit as much as they are in name.”

Feyenoord ‘keen’ on Amad again

Feyenoord are ‘keen’ on pursuing a fresh move for United winger Amad ahead of this summer’s transfer window, according to a report by 1908.nl, as cited by the Sunderland Echo.

The winger spent this season on loan at Sunderland and played a key role in helping them secure a top-six berth in the Championship. They lost their two-legged play-off semi-final to Luton Town 3-2 on aggregate.

Amad was set to join Feyenoord on loan back in August 2021 only for the deal to be cancelled at the last minute because of an injury.

Ten Hag makes brutal admission about De Gea’s role next season

United manager Erik ten Hag has warned David de Gea that he is not guaranteed to remain United’s first choice goalkeeper next season.

The Spaniard is expected to extend his stay at Old Trafford by signing a new contract, but it does not necessarily mean he will remain the club’s No.1. The Reds are considering other goalkeeping options.

OPINION: United may spring a tactical surprise vs City

“Figures at United acknowledged in the summer Anthony Martial would be a challenge for Erik ten Hag. The challenge has been more to do with his agility than his ability in a season Martial has sustained five separate injuries and missed 32 games. Ten Hag has said United are a better side with Martial starting. He has stressed that so repeatedly he must believe it even if many supporters don’t. Rather than scorn an unsellable talent who has outstayed his welcome, Ten Hag has maximised Martial (when available) whilst also planning for life without him.”

Tottenham ‘determined’ to avoid Kane sale to United

Tottenham remain determined to resist United’s attempts to sign Harry Kane this summer, according to a report by the Mirror.

As reported by the Manchester Evening News last week, Erik ten Hag to sign the England international at the end of the season, but it is understood that Daniel Levy has no interest in selling his star striker.

The report claims Tottenham are ready to run the risk of allowing Kane to leave on a free transfer in the summer of 2024 rather than cashing in now, which would leave the club in even greater turmoil.

Ten Hag issues Maguire update

Erik ten Hag says Harry Maguire has a decision to make with regards to his United future, and has suggested it will be up to the club captain to decide what happens this summer.

“He has high competition there with Raphael Varane, who’s fantastic,” Ten Hag told The Times.

“That describes everything [winning the Champions League five times with former club Real Madrid]. No one would be happy with this situation [not playing]. He’s not as well. He trains always on best levels, with 100 per cent effort. So he handles that situation well and he’s in that manner and in his captaincy he’s important for the squad. Let’s say I’m happy he’s here and when we needed him he did his job, but it’s also a decision he has to make (over whether he wants to leave).”

Ten Hag ‘confident’ of Mount decision

Erik ten Hag is reportedly confident that he will be able to convince Mason Mount to join United this summer.

The Telegraph cites interest from United in the Chelsea midfielder and says Ten Hag has confidence in being able to offer him exactly what he wants.

Ten Hag addresses Greenwood situation

Erik ten Hag spoke to The Times’ Henry Winter in an interview that was published earlier this evening.

One of the paragraphs in the article is centred around Mason Greenwood and this is what it says:

The future of Mason Greenwood is understandably a sensitive issue. In February, Greenwood was cleared of charges of attempted rape, controlling and coercive behaviour and assault. He is still suspended by United pending an internal investigation as the club considers whether he should continue his career at Old Trafford. Ten Hag says simply that the forward has “showed in the past that he is capable of doing that” front (striker) role, scoring 36 times in 130 appearances, but emphasises it is not his decision as to whether he returns.
