Martha Domenico Obituary – Worcester Telegram & Gazette

Martha J. (Domigian) Domenico, 97 of Worcester, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 4, 2023 at Knollwood Nursing Center surrounded by her loving family.

Martha was born in Fitchburg, a daughter of the late Harry and Regina (Eminian) Domigian. She grew up in Worcester where she graduated from Commerce High School and later earned an associate degree from Salter School. Martha worked as an executive secretary at various agencies including Beth Israel Hospital, Worcester City Hall and retiring from Clark University. She was a Girl Scout with her sister, Alice, a devout catholic, and longtime member of Immaculate Conception Parish and member of St. Christopher Church in later years.

Martha was sensible, smart, and had a great sense of humor. She loved theater, symphony, opera, American History, and cloud formations. She was a regular patron of the arts in Worcester. Martha traveled the world, visiting places like Israel, Germany, and Italy. In 1993, she moved to the Briarwood Continuing Care Community, where she was an active participant in community life, calling bingo and welcoming new residents.

Martha’s husband of 30 years, Philip Domenico passed away in 1990. Martha was a devoted mother and grandmother, lovingly attending to her family’s needs throughout their lives. She is survived by a son, Philip J. Domenico and his wife Tracy Trinh of Fort Worth, TX; a daughter, Jean Rogers-Gottwald and her husband James of Amherst, NH; five grandchildren, Katherine Kennedy and her husband Rufy of Lee, NH., twins, Scott Rogers of Nashua, NH and Evan Rogers of Belmont, MA., Jonathan Gottwald of Dover, NH and Benjamin Gottwald of Brooklyn, NY; a great grandchild, Callum Kennedy; a nephew, David Mard, a great nephew and niece, Michael and Elizabeth Mard and a great great nephew, Matteo. Besides her parents, she is predeceased by her sister, Alice Mard.

Relatives and friends are invited to a period of calling hours on Friday, June 23, 2023 from 4-7 pm in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St., Worcester. Services for Martha will be held on Saturday, June 24th with a procession from the funeral home to St. Christopher Church, 950 West Boylston St., Worcester where her funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 am. Burial will be held privately at St. John’s Cemetery, Worcester. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to: Catholic Charities Worcester County, 10 Hammond St., Worcester, MA 01610 or to Resident Assistance Fund at Briarwood Community, 65 Briarwood Circle, Worcester, MA. 01606
