Met Office hour-by-hour weekend weather forecast for Lancashire as heat warning issued

Another warm weekend is in store across Lancashire with the Met Office forecasting temperatures in the low-to-mid 20s.

It comes as a yellow heat-health alert, which covers the whole of the North West, has been extended by the UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) and the Met Office to Monday (June 19). The alert warns people to check on loved ones over the age of 65 and those with pre-existing medical conditions as the temperatures rise.

Earlier this week an official heatwave was triggered by the Met Office after the daily maximum temperature reached 25C on three consecutive days in a row. Monday night brought a sudden and dramatic change with thunder and torrential rain hitting the county – the first rainfall in more than three weeks.

The glorious sunshine over the last few days is set to continue into Friday with highs of 27C. However conditions will then turn cloudier and slightly cooler into the weekend with more rain on the way.

Saturday will see highs of 24C and most areas blanketed by clouds with the odd ‘sunny interval’. The trend will continue into Sunday but with most areas welcoming ‘light showers’.

Saturday is set to the warmer of the two days

The mixture of rain, clouds and sunshine will roll into the start of next week before heavier rain is forecast for Wednesday. Met Office spokesman Stephen Dixon said that, while temperatures will remain hotter than average for this time of year, most regions of the country will drop below the threshold for a heatwave.
