Ashwaubenon, Wis. – The Rockers got back in the win column on Sunday’s game, taking down the Kenosha Kingfish 8-2. The game was called off after eight innings due to the game entering two rain delays.

Green Bay was able to get back on track at the plate, tallying 12 hits throughout the lineup. Three of these were off the bat of Blake Wilson (Kansas State), getting his first-multi hit performance of his Rockers career.

Starting on the hill for the Rockers was Jake Liberta (Hawaii-Hilo). The left-hander would only face two batters before the game entered a rain delay.

The delay would last nearly three hours, as rain would pass through Ashwaubenon before play resumed at 4:05 p.m.

When play resumed, Kenosha struck first, scoring one of the two baserunners that reached base before the break.

Green Bay would respond with two runs of their own in the bottom of the first. Rockers’ first baseman Mateo Matthews (Wagner) hit a two-RBI double to put the team up 2-1.

After Kenosha got one more in the top of the second, Green Bay added two more runs in the bottom half of the inning. The first and second batters for Green Bay, Kendal Ewell (Kentucky) and Austin Fawley (Kentucky) poked a pair of RBI singles putting the Rockers up 4-2.

The Rockers’ projected starter for the game Grayson Walker (Dickinson) would enter the game in relief in the third inning. He worked efficiently through his four innings of work, giving up only one hit and striking out three batters.

The Rockers would get run number five after loading the bases off walks. The fourth consecutive free pass they saw was drawn by right fielder Jojo Jackson (Georgia State).

In the bottom of the seventh inning, the Rockers doubled their lead, getting three more runs off the bat of Kyle West (West Virginia). The home run to right field was West’s sixth of the season, and he continues to lead the Great Lakes in home runs. The Rockers would take an 8-2 lead and win by the same score.

With the win, the Rockers are now 16-12 and remain tied for first place. The team will remain tied with the Wausau Woodchucks for the top spot.

Up next for the Rockers is a two-game series with the Fond du Lac Dock Spiders. They’ll host Fond du Lac on Monday, and then it’ll be Green Bay’s first trip to Herr Baker Field since Opening Day.
