Ricardo Sheffield announces his return to the publishing scene with the release of “Two Eagles: The History of the United States and Mexico” (published by AuthorHouse), a fun and easy to read book that traces the history of the United States and Mexico, from the Ice Age to Biden and Lopez-Obrador administrations.

In this book, Sheffield considers questions such as the following: What was life like for the Native Americans? When did some decide to follow an unknown path south, leaving others to stay behind? What unites the lives of Mexicans with those living in the United States of America? What have been the moments of greatest tension between the two countries? With a distinctive voice full of irony, humor, and popular sayings, he traces the history of two great powers—from their common beginnings with the Clovis culture hunting mammoths to the civil wars of both countries, the promulgation of their respective constitutions, and their struggles to abolish slavery.

“The relationship between Mexico and the United States has survived American expansionism, the independence of Texas, the dispossession of half of Mexican territory, invasions and military interventions, the assault on Columbus, the punitive expedition, the war on drugs, Operation Condor, illegal espionage, migration, Operation Fast and Furious, arms trafficking, coyotes, Donald Trump and his threats, the border wall, the renegotiation of the Free Trade Agreement, and the remoteness of God,” Sheffield says. He adds, “They say that what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger — and that people who live in glass houses shouldn’t throw stones. These countries have proven to be the exception to the universal decree that dictates that neighbors should always have an adverse relationship. There are no cracks, however deep and old, that are irreparable. So, between Mexico and the United States, the bond.”

When asked what he wants readers to take away from the book, Sheffield answered, “This book tells the story of the two lands with a different, unheard voice. It is not so much of a search, but as an encounter. In the end, we will always live together, those from here, those from there, those from both sides, who already number in the millions, with an economy so integrated that even if the USMCA did not exist, we would still be one market. I look forward to another 200 years of friendship, cooperation, and understanding. The two eagles will continue to fly close to each other, in the same desert, under the same sky.” For more details about the book, please visit
