Their mother, Christine, said: “We watched the Telethon on TV and realised that the children we saw on the programme needed a lot of help. The girls decided they wanted to do something.”

Natalie, left, is seen riding Private Benjamin and Rebecca is on Silver Sparkle. The telethons were charity events organised by the ITV network in 1988, 1990 and 1992, all hosted by Michael Aspel. The final telethon raised £15,012,989.
