We tried fish and chips at seaside Yorkshire village named one of the best in the UK

A stunning chocolate-box seaside village along the Yorkshire coast has been named one of the best places in the UK to get a fish and chips meal.

Robin Hood’s Bay, near Whitby, was crowned the sixth best place to grab the British delicacy by travel booking website Omio, using data from Tripadvisor, to mark National Fish and Chip Day which took place this Friday (June 2).

So, it was only naturally that we zoomed up the A64 at the first opportunity to put the chocolate-box village’s fryers to the test. The first place we happened to stumble upon was the Fish Box, which is located along one of the narrow winding country lanes.

I was overwhelmed by how picturesque the view was beside the chippy, the shop overlooks the North Sea as it hugs the Yorkshire coastline in its glistening azure beauty.

The Fish Box has tables outside with a couple arranged on a balcony which overlooks the coastline from the cliff’s edge. I was pleased to bag a table right at the very edge.

The staff were friendly, easy going and happy to tell me about the various options they had. I was delighted to see there was a choice between cod and haddock – I always feel the more upmarket fryers offer haddock.
