Amad Diallo ‘open’ to Sunderland return on one key condition after stunning post-Rangers campaign

Amad Diallo would be open to a return to Sunderland on one key condition.

It wasn’t to be for them this time around with a semi-final defeat to Luton Town, who defeated Coventry City on penalties at Wembley to earn a shot at the big time next season.

Speculation still surrounds former Celtic boss Tony Mowbray and his future at the club ahead of the new season but Alan Nixon reports in his Boss of Goss column in The Sun that should he be the man in the hot seat next season then he would be willing to return to the club once again.

Erik ten Hag is believed to be ready to give the 20-year-old the chance to impress at Manchester United over pre-season but if he is to head back out on loan once again he would be ready for a second-stint in the English Championship.

Diallo scored 14 goals with some crackers along the way including in the play-off defeat to Luton Town and the final day of the season at Preston that secured a top six finish.

He was a key player across the campaign alongside Patrick Roberts and was named Sunderland’s Young Player of the Year.
