Liverpool receive tempting bid for failed signing who is ‘not accepting’ chance to join rivals

Liverpool have received a permanent offer for suspect signing Fabio Carvalho who has already snubbed multiple chances to join Premier League rivals, per a trusted source.

Liverpool were over the moon when landing Fabio Carvalho from Fulham last summer. The Reds had pushed to sign the 20-year-old six months prior, though left their deal too late as the winter window deadline came and went.

However, with much of the deal’s framework already ironed out, Liverpool reignited their move and landed Carvalho at the second time of asking in the summer.

The £5m capture (potentially rising to £7.7m via add-ons) had all the hallmarks of a transfer masterstroke.

Indeed, Carvalho scored 10 and assisted eight in Fulham’s promotion campaign and was a key figure in everything they did well in an attacking sense.

However, Carvalho’s Anfield career is yet to catch fire, with the youngster limited to a measly eight starts across all competitions so far.

As such, Jurgen Klopp recently confirmed Liverpool could explore a loan exit for the Portugal Under-21 international.

“I think there is a possibility Fabio could go on loan, but we will see,” said Klopp last Friday.

“No player has impressed me more than Fabio, that’s the truth. His work ethic will give him a fantastic career.

“His reactions in a row [to not playing], I’ve never seen before.”

Liverpool receive permanent bid; Carvalho rejects Prem chances

Football Insider reported newly-promoted Burnley had registered their interest and would be open to either a loan or permanent buy.

However, according to Fabrizio Romano, Carvalho has not been receptive to loan offers from within the Premier League.

Instead, the transfer guru tweeted Liverpool have now received an offer to buy Carvalho outright from an unspecified overseas club.

While a loan and not an outright sale is preferred, a move abroad would at least ensure Carvalho does not haunt Liverpool twice a season from another EPL side.

Romano reported “there’s a permanent deal bid on Liverpool table from club abroad for Fabio Carvalho”.

The journalist added there are “many loan deal bids” from fellow EPL sides, though Carvalho is “not accepting” any at present. Explaining why, it was suggested the “project” on offer at the relevant clubs is not to the player’s liking.

Liverpool’s preference is to sanction a loan and not an outright sale. Clearly, despite Carvalho’s sub-par first season on Merseyside, the Reds aren’t content to throw in the towel just yet.

With Carvalho thus far unwilling to join another Premier League side, the ideal scenario would be the foreign club changing approach and offering a loan move rather than permanent buy.
