RTE Late Late Show’s Ryan Tubridy wells up after emotional tribute from Toy Show children

RTE star Ryan Tubridy was left choking up after an emotional tribute from some of the Late Late Toy Show children.

Tonight is the final night that the Dubliner will be presenting the long-running late-night chat show.

He explained at the beginning of tonight’s episode that there would be many surprises for him throughout the show.

The first one was some of the stars from the Toy Show over the years.

They all sang Cups and Ryan was blown away by this surprise as he went and hugged all of the kids that were on the stage after their performance.

Ryan was blown away by the performance and he said: “I can’t believe it. Thank you all. My how you have grown.

“It’s so lovely and everyone has grown up.”

Later he thanked all of the children for coming in and he became very emotional.

He said: “You see when you’re doing the Toy Show I never really see too many of the children again and I always think part of my strange weird family.

“And I have you trapped like a fly in amber – I always think you’re going to stay that age because that’s what I associate with you.

“But when I see you all grown up and elegant and smart and talented and I just want to say thank you.”

Ryan then got emotional and choked up as he said: “You gave me so much. I’m a little bit lost for words.”

Following this, the 49-year-old also spoke to little Enya, 10, in the audience who was crying as she was afraid Ryan was going away forever.

Speaking to the girl, the presenter said: “You’re very upset because you’re worried that I’m going away forever and don’t be worried.

“And to all the kids everywhere I’m not. You’ve got Youtube you can watch me forever but also we’re friends in our hearts forever.

“And the next guy will be great too and he’s going to mind all the children.”

RTE viewers were also emotional watching the reunion as they flooded Twitter with praise for Ryan and his young guests.

Laura tweeted saying: “I’m about to cry again at all the Toy show kids …and it’s May!!”

Audrey said: “Really enjoying this trip down Late Late Toy Show Memory Lane.”

One viewer wrote: “The Toy Show is the reason the #LateLateShow can never end.”

While Sally also tweeted saying: “Best wishes to Ryan Tubridy with his final @RTELateLateShow programme tonight.

“Plenty of good memories watching shows and of course the toy shows over the years. Ryans been on the #LateLateShow half my life!!”
