M2, M20, M25, A21 and A2 closures and roadworks in Kent this week

M2, M20, M25, A21 and A2 closures and roadworks in Kent this week

A number of overnight closures will be taking place across Kent this week, impacting travel. Sometimes even just one diversion or closure can result in multiple hours being added to a journey.

Works can be carried out for a number of reasons, from general highway maintenance to vital gas and water works. KentLive has rounded up all of the works impacting travel on the county’s vital motorways that will be taking place this week.

National Highways roadworks to improve the M2 junction 5 at Stockbury interchange continue. This week resurfacing works mean the road is closed between junction 5 and junction 4 each night. During the closures, a signed diversion route will be in place from M2 junction 3 via the A229, M20 and A249 to M2 junction 5, and in reverse for London-bound traffic.

On Sunday, June 18 the M20 will be closed in both directions overnight between junction 7 for Maidstone and junction 9 for Ashford for barrier works. The closure will begin at 9pm and the road is expected to reopen by 6am on Monday, June 19. A diversion will be in place via the A249/M2/A2/A20/M20 or this route in reverse.

Drivers are warned to plan their journeys and allow more time. You can find more details of roadworks on the One.Network site. Don’t forget to sign up to our Traffic and Travel newsletter for all the latest information on the roads – simply follow the link here.
