Pre-season planning for Exeter City

It is then the long trip to Mousehole in the furthest corner of Cornwall on Tuesday, July 11 before a trip to Bath City on Saturday, July 15. Next on the list is a visit to Taunton Town on Tuesday, July 18.

The Grecians will make a traditional trip to play Torquay United at Plainmoor on Saturday, July 22 and then ramp things up with an away game at Championship club Bristol City on Tuesday, July 25. City complete their pre-season with a visit from Coventry City on Saturday, July 29.

Looking ahead to the serious business in Sky Bet League One, fixtures are released on Thursday, June 22 and City will have seven new teams on the menu for the new campaign. Wigan Athletic, Blackpool and Reading have all come down from the Championship, while Leyton Orient, Stevenage, Northampton and Carlisle United were promoted from League Two.

Carlisle will represent the longest trip for City, a gruelling 347 miles to Cumbria, with Fleetwood Town (283), Blackpool (278), Barnsley (260) and Bolton Wanderers (254) completing the top five of tough journeys.

Now that Plymouth Argyle have moved up to the Championship, Bristol Rovers at 81 miles will be the shortest journey from St James Park, followed by Cheltenham Town (115), Portsmouth (130), Reading (156) and Oxford United (163).

The ever-popular Party at the Park, family fun day will return to St James Park on Sunday, July 2 in aid of the TeamEvo vs MND appeal.

The activities commence from 11am and will continue to 6pm, with the event free to attend and hosted in partnership with Crealy Theme Park and Resort.

The event is in aid of the TeamEvo vs MND campaign. City Community Trust’s Pete, affectionately known to those close to him as Evo, was diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease in November 2022. The #TeamEvo campaign raises awareness of this awful disease and also helps to support Evo and his young family.
